Katie Robke, who will be one of our regular guest bloggers,
shares the how to's for this stunning peacock inspired
look.
In my opinion, the most stunning, majestic and stylish creature
on this planet, is the Peacock... and it was the inspiration for
today's look.
I begin this look by applying Eye Primer Matte
($7.95) over the eyelid. This is an important first step because it
provides a long lasting base, which will help hold the eye shadow
in place without creasing, smudging or losing colour over time.
I then use my brush to apply Colour Max Eyeshadow
Pearl ($9.45) as a highlight for my eyes. I put it under
my lower lash line, under my brow, and the inner part of my lid,
around the tear duct area. I incorporate this step into a lot of my
eye makeup routine's because it opens them up and makes them
'pop'!
I looooove the strong pigment in this Eye Definer
Marine ($7.95), so I'm using it to colour in the rest of
the lower section of the lid. I then blend it properly with the
brush.
A little trick I like to use to help create the sharp wing
(cat-eye) shape, is to apply a piece of sticky tape to the outer
eye, at a 45 degree angle. Works like a dream!
I then apply this stunning Colour Max Eyeshadow
Quartz ($9.45), in an arc shape across the eyelid, all the
while blending in gently with the marine and the pearl. I make sure
I don't blend for too long though, as this will diminish the
vibrancy of the colours I've just applied.
Now that the colours are perfectly blended I peel the tape off
of my eyelid. Notice the perfect wing it's helped create :D
Now for my favourite part!
I'm going for the ultra-feminine, Cleopatra shaped eyeliner for
this look. I use High Definition Liquid Eyeliner
Black ($11.95) which has the perfect tip to help me get
the sharp pointed ends that I'm after. I draw over the base of the
eyelashes, extending the line mid-way up to my eyebrow, then back
down along the lower lash line. I finish up by creating a point
around the tear duct.
I don't have the most steady hand, so applying liquid eye liner
can be a bit tricky at times! To help get the precise line, I just
rest my elbow on a table or bench.
To complete the eyes I draw under the lower lash line with the
marine eye definer, then apply a few coats of Glamorous
Lashes Mascara Blackest Black ($10.95) for thick curly
lashes, to really set this look off!
I'm really loving the fresh pink lip colours for this summer.
I've used the Lipliner Mechanical Pink ($9.95) to
define my edges and help create a fuller shape.
Massage therapy Lip Shine Torquay ($10.95) I'm
using here, is the perfect colour match for the lip liner. It gives
my lips a smooth, glossy shine - and is actually designed to
improve circulation for a fuller pout! :p
Voilà! The Peacock has inspired me to create this gorgeous and
bold summer party look! I hope you love it as much as I do.
